An author of young adult literature, she is best known for works such as Tru Confessions (1997) and For What It's Worth (2012). Her popular works contain elements of both fiction and non-fiction and have been translated into many languages. She was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. Later in her life, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began her writing career.
