American politician who was a United States Senator from Wyoming from 1890 to 1893 and then again from 1895 to 1929. He was also the 1st Governor of Wyoming for a month in the fall of 1890. He was a soldier in the Union Army during the American Civil War before engaging in farming and stock-raising in Massachusetts.
