French poet and novelist who shot to fame in the 1990s for Total Chaos, Chourmo, and Solea, neo-crime novoles collectively known as the Marseilles Trilogy. He wrote stories and poems while in school, but after graduation, was sent to work a lathe. When he was 18, he began working at bookstore.
