Publisher and award-winning memoir writer who worked for The Washington Post for over two decades. She is especially remembered for her newspaper's role in exposing the Watergate Scandal. She began working for The Washington Post in 1938, shortly after graduating from the University of Chicago. Following the death of her publisher husband, she assumed control of the Post (which had previously been owned by her own father, Eugene Meyer).
