Perhaps most famous for his 1969 Billboard hit "Jealous Kind of Fella" and his follow-up single "Plain and Simple Girl," he also released several albums, including Love Is What We Came Here For (1977) and I Should've Been The One (2012). While studying vocal music and piano performance at the Chicago Conservatory of Music, he won a talent competition and was given the opportunity to share the stage with jazz musicians Earl Hines and Lou Rawls.
