Unconventional artist and foremost member of the Young British Artists. Known for his death-themed works such as "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living," which was part of a series of artworks in which he preserved whole and dissected animals in formaldehyde. He studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University of London. He sold his complete 2008 show, "Beautiful Inside My Head Forever," at Sotheby's for $198 million, a record.
