Known for being a leader of the Sri Lankan Trotskyist Lanka Sama Samaja Party. He was the first Trotskyist to be in the Sri Lankan cabinet. He played cricket for school as a young boy, and later earned an bachelor's degree from the University of London External System at the University College in Colombo.
