Affiliated with the Republican Party, this Mississippi-born politician served his state's third congressional district in the United States House of Representatives beginning in 2009. Previously, he had chaired the Republican Party of Rankin County, Mississippi. He studied chemistry at Mississippi College in the late 1970s and subsequently earned a law degree from the University of Mississippi.
