American writer whose debut children's novel, Frindle, won the Christopher Award and fifteen other literary prizes. His other works include the Pets to the Rescue series, the Jake Drake books, and stand-alone novels entitled Lunch Money, Lost and Found, and We the Children. He earned a degree in English literature from Northwestern University and later received his master's in elementary education from National Louis University. Early in his career, he worked as a songwriter.
