Influential Republican politician who served as President of the Illinois Senate from 1993 to 2003. He was also a Member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1966 to 1975. He was a district sales manager for Pepperidge Farm for thirty-eight years following his service in the United States Marine Corps.
