British actor of stage, film, and television, who was honored with a Tony Award for his performance in the revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten, and in 2008 became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and was in a German POW camp from 1942 to 1945.
