Versatile musician known as the soloist for the 1916 world premiere performance of Nights in the Gardens of Spain by Manuel de Falla. He began studies at the Madrid Royal Conservatory when he was 11. His patron was Princess Isabella of Bourbon who was Queen Isabella II of Spain's daughter.
