Celebrated children's author who wrote the Mr. Men and Little Miss books and received the Best Books of the Year award in 1983. His other book series include Timbuctoo and Walter Worm. He worked at his father's dry cleaning business and later secured a design position at a London firm. He published his debut bestselling work, Mr. Tickle, in 1971.
