American entrepreneur who founded a successful mutual fund investment company called The Vanguard Group. He also wrote a bestselling nonfiction work entitled Common Sense on Mutual Funds: New Imperatives for the Intelligent Investor. He graduated from Princeton University in 1951 and subsequently worked at the Philadelphia and Boston-based Wellington Management Company.
