Radio and screen comedian who was Tony Hancock's co-star in Hancock's Half Hour, which ran on television from 1956 to 1960. He also starred in the shows Two In Clover and Bless this House. He claimed he was a boxer in his younger days, though it was more likely he worked in the profession he trained in: hairdresser.
