An American novelist and newspaper editor, he founded such publications as E.W. Howe's Monthly and the Atchison Daily Globe. His published literary works include The Story of a Country Town (1883) and The Moonlight Boy (1900). He became the owner of The Golden Globe, a Nebraska-based newspaper, when he was only nineteen years old.
