An American mystery writer, he is best known for his Chaingang books, which follow the adventures of Homicide Detective Jack Eichord as he hunts down serial killer Daniel Bunkowski. Miller's other works include Frenzy, Iceman, and Saint Louis Blues. He worked as a disc jockey during the 1960s. He published his first novel, Slob, in 1987.
