A Twentieth-century American author, she is best known for her Betsy-Tacy children's book series. The series is unique in that the degree of reading difficulty progresses as the characters age throughout the series. A voracious reader, she started writing during her early childhood years. She briefly attended the University of Minnesota and had her first story published by the Los Angeles Times Magazine.
