Swing, bebop, and cool-jazz artist and film composer who also became a record company executive for French CBS' jazz division in 1964. He relocated to Paris in 1946 where he became a member of Jean-Claude Fohrenbach's combo and served as an ensemble-organizing point-man for visiting U.S. jazz performers.
