Lithuanian writer and dramatist known for his work in the realism genre. His numerous literary works include Uzkeiktieji vienuoliai (Cursed Monks), Paskenduole (The Drowned), and Sventavarte (Holygate). He excelled as a student at the Anyksciai school in his native Azuozeriai, Lithuania (then part of the Russian Empire).
