Wrote the popular number "By the Waters of Minnetonka." He belonged to the "Indianist movement" group of American composers. He organized numerous musical events in his lifetime and toured all over the U.S. with his wife. He studied with Herman Bellstedt who had played cornet with John Philip Sousa's group.
