Conductor and music teacher who became prominent during the last quarter of the 20th century. He taught several individuals that would go one to become famous composers. He studied English literature at Cairo University, from which he graduated in 1961. He was awarded a scholarship in 1961 to study at the Vienna Music Academy under the famed Hans Swarowsky.
