Austrian-American poet who received the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Walking to Martha's Vineyard. His other poetry collections include Kindertotenwald, God's Silence, and The Beforelife. He attended Oberlin College. One year prior to his graduation, he published an early poetry collection entitled Tapping the White Cane of Solitude.
