A Twentieth-century American poet and author, he was also the founder of The Jargon Society, a prominent publishing house. His poetry collections include Jubilant Thicket and An Ear in Bartram's Tree. He studied at Princeton University but dropped out to attend art classes at North Carolina's Black Mountain College.
