Rising to fame as the season two host of The Mind of a Chef, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Culinary Host. His first cookbook, Heritage, was also a New York Times bestseller after it was released in October 2014. He is best known for his mastery of traditional Southern cuisine. He first became known as the executive chef of Husk in Charleston, South Carolina in 2010. Shortly after it was named the Best New Restaurant in America by Bon App tit magazine.
