Composer and teacher who authored "Detvan," the first Slovak national opera. He was a collector of folk songs and published numerous compendiums of his folk adaptations. He taught in many schools in Slovakia, including in Pilis, Ostr' L ka, Zvolensk' Slatina, and Padina.
