From 1995 until 1999, this Republican Party politician served Wisconsin's first district in the United States House of Representatives. He later ran unsuccessfully for his party's nomination in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race of 2010 and also attempted to secure a spot in his state's U.S. Senate race of 2012. After studying briefly at the General Motors Institute, he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master's degree in leadership from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
