A midfielder for Scotland's Alloa Athletic Football Club since 2012, Simmons was previously a member of the Queen of the South; Raith Rovers; Dunfermline Athletic; and Heart of Midlothian soccer teams. In 1998, after playing his youth career for the Celtic Boys Club, he made his professional debut for the Edinburgh-based Heart of Midlothian F.C.
