Famous for her Melbourne International Comedy Festival award-winning show Tales from the Crip, she is also remembered for her popular 2014 TED talk "I'm Not Your Inspiration, Thank You Very Much." After earning a journalism degree from Deakin University, Geelong, and an education diploma from the University of Melbourne, she worked for the Melbourne Museum and presented a disability-themed local television program called No Limits.
