Race car driver who came to be known as "King of the Beach" for his dominance of the Daytona Beach Road Course. He died in an accident while preparing for the Daytona 500 in February 1959. He was born in Daytona Beach, California and made his debut in what is now known as the Sprint Cup Series in 1949.
