American Democratic politician who served as a Senator from Oklahoma from 1937 to 1943. He also led the public speaking department at the University of Oklahoma. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and earned a graduate degree in political science from Columbia University and a law degree from Cumberland School of Law in Tennessee.
