Known as The Tall Texan, Walker was an American country singer who released the 1962 hit song, "(I'd Like to Be In) Charlie's Shoes." He was inspired by Gene Autry when he was young and began singing as a teenager in 1949 with the Big D Jamboree in Dallas. He later signed with Capitol Records.
