Remembered for such classic novels as Howard's End, A Passage to India, and A Room with a View, this early twentieth-century British fiction writer infused his works with social commentary, symbolism, and irony. His short story collections include The Celestial Omnibus and The Eternal Moment. After studying at King's College, Cambridge, in the late 1800s and early 1900s, he had a successful career as a BBC Radio broadcaster. He published his debut novel, Where Angels Fear to Tread, in 1905.
