YouTube sensation dodie opens up on sharing struggles online

YouTubers have become celebrities in their own rights, launching music and TV careers and even business empires.

And Dodie Clark – aka dodie – is the latest internet star to make the jump to the stage.

The 22-year-old is set to release her second EP, You, this week (Friday August 11) and is about to embark on a sold out tour.

And the quirky singer grew her fanbase by uploading her videos to YouTube, with her channel racking up 1.2 million subscribers.

But it’s not just music dodie is known for, as she has opened up about her mental health struggles in various videos – helping many of her fans with similar issues.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, dodie said: ‘It definitely comes naturally, I’m such an oversharer in real life, always have been. I took a while for me to realise I could be open online, because for a while I kept up this pretence of being this teenage fangirl.

‘I tried and people responded well and related. Since then, I’ve been talking about it more and more. I think it’s important if you have a voice to use it for something good.’
